It was one year of glory and then three of non-stop drama. He spoke in the third-person. He used the King’s we. He struggled to accept blame. He wore a glove on one hand.

And now he is warming the bench, until he is cut or traded.

Robert Griffin III electrified Washington his rookie year. He led the team to a division title and home playoff game. But then he got hurt and it has never been the same. The boys have said for some time he is not the long-term solution. Now the coach and front office agree and Griffin is benched for Kirk Cousins.

This week the boys break down the benching of Griffin. They examine what it means for the team moving forward. They also re-look season predictions.

Enjoy!

New Skinscast Episode – 10

Wednesday, August 12th, 2015

skinscastbang

Skinscast is back, kicking off our 10th season talking about the Redskins. Pappas and Reffkin are joined by special guest and longtime alum, Brian Murphy to discuss the season just ahead.

There is lots to talk about this week. The Redskins shiny new right-tackle is turning into a very expensive guard in terms of draft value. There is little doubt Junior Galette is a baller, but will his brand of off-the-field distraction poison the locker-room? The defense have named themselves, this following seven wins collectively over the past two years. And Pappas sets the over/under for Robert Griffin to produce at six games.

Speaking of six, it seems to be the magic number for win-predictions.

A new GM. Free agency. Ten new players added in the draft.

After one of the most significant offseasons in decades, the boys finally decided to get behind the mics and discuss the many changes with the Redskins. They couldn’t be more happy with the direction the team is taking. But as excited as they want to get, they have seen one too many Redskins’ rebuilds to lose their heads.

Things are going well, but the proof comes in September when the new season starts.

As soon as we think we know what’s going on with the Washington Redskins, the situation changes.

Whereas last week we were convince the coach should stay with help from the front office, this week we see break-downs in discipline and inexcusable in-game ignorance by head coach Jay Gruden.

Then there’s the fact they quit at the end.

This week the boys discuss the loss to the Giants. They look at the re-emergence of Robert Griffin and what it may mean for the future.

Enjoy!

New Skinscast Episode – Hopeless

Wednesday, December 10th, 2014

skinscastbang

At 3-10, the rumors suggest the head coach and owner are at odds over the backup quarterback. And the signs are pointing to another Redskins reset.

But the thought of another fresh start feels more like a road-to-nowhere.

This week, Pappas uses the opening monologue to present an accurate state-of-affairs of the current Redskins’ situation. He explains why the quarterback and coach are NOT the problem associated with this team.

Reffkin joins in the second segment and what follows is a sobering, candid conversation of where the Redskins are headed. Easily the most impassioned episode in our nine-year history.

Enjoy!

Correction: Pappas incorrectly attributed Rick Snider’s December 8th column to Washington Post Express. It appeared at Washington.cbslocal.com
