New Skinscast Episode – The Grand Opening

skinscastbang

Sometimes things are just what they seem. Sometimes things are just as advertised. Sometimes dreams really do come true.

Fans of the Washington Redskins could only gaze in amazement at the performance of Robert Griffin III and the 2012 Redskins. Against New Orleans Griffin was lights out, showing poise and effectiveness well beyond his years.  It was the best performance by a rookie quarterback in his debut in a long time, perhaps ever. And best of all, it ended with a win for the Redskins on the road.

This week the boys break down the win against the Saints. They marvel at the effectiveness of the offense, the playmaking of the defense, and look hard for things to criticize. Washington plays St Louis this weekend and the gang wonders what a win and a 2-0 start could mean.

And all the while they try and tell themselves it was only one game…

Pappas is so pleased he finally got something right and things could be so much better if Reffkin would only learn to operate a microphone.

New Skinscast Episode – Bears at the door

Thursday, August 23rd, 2012

skinscastbangIt was a not-so-nice welcome to the league for Robert Griffin III as the Chicago Bears showed him what a real NFL defense looks like in the second preseason game of the year. The kid finally got his uniform dirty, but managed to keep his poise while under pressure. But it was the first team defense that was most exposed, surrendering big plays and points.

Thankfully Kirk Cousins and the backups came in to restore some dignity and make it a game.

This week the boys discuss the game in Chicago. They breakdown the breakdowns and look towards the all-important third preseason game against the Colts this weekend.

New Skinscast Episode – In the beginning

Wednesday, August 8th, 2012

skinscastbang

Tomorrow we get our first glimpse of Robert Griffin III in live game conditions. For the first time in his professional career, the young quarterback will contend with defenders allowed to hit him, and coverages designed to confound him.

This week the boys discuss the goings on at training camp, breaking down the team position by position. They consider who has impressed, and how the depth chart appears to be shaking out. It’s too early to talk about cuts, but positions are up for grabs and a slow start in camp can be forgotten with strong performances in the preseason.

And of course they conjecture on what to expect from the first outing from Griffin and identify what they hope to see against Buffalo.

Enjoy!

The Trade

Monday, March 12th, 2012

The boys weigh in.

The timing of the trade Friday between St Louis and Washington that has the Redskins sending their first and second-round picks in this year’s draft, as well as the first-round picks in 2013 and 2014 in return for the Rams’ 2012 second overall pick prevented us from getting together on a special episode. But we still wanted to go on record with our thoughts on the trade.

Pappas

We said on the show this offseason is the most important for the Redskins in a generation. With the trade, we believe the 2012 offseason will define the team for the next decade.

If the presumptive selection of Robert Griffin III pans out – it will be viewed as the bold move that restored glory to the franchise. If we are treated to Heath Shuler Part 2 however, it will become another example of epic front office failure in Washington.
