New Skinscast Episode – The beasts of the east

Thursday, January 3rd, 2013

skinscastbangIn the climax to the 2012 NFL regular season, the Washington Redskins defeated bitter arch-rival the Dallas Cowboys to capture the NFC East crown and a place in the playoffs.

It was a game for the ages with a storybook ending.

This week the boys break down the awesome victory over the Cowboys. It was a throwback to days of yore. From the smashmouth running of Alfred Morris, to season best defensive performances from DeAngelo Hall and London Fletcher. An offense that managed another 28 points, and an opportunistic defense that created three takeaways. And then there was the magnificent gameplan on both sides of the ball.

It doesn’t get much sweeter than that.

But there’s another game just ahead, and this team is better than the one Washington just beat. The gang looks at a hot Seattle Seahawks team and talk about what the Redskins will need to do to stay alive in the postseason.

Enjoy!

New Skinscast Episode – Best present ever

Tuesday, December 25th, 2012

skinscastbangThe greatest possible ending to a season has unfolded. The Washington Redskins eeked out a win in Philadelphia and now will face their vaunted rival - the Dallas Cowboys – in a winner-take-division match. One will wear the crown. The other will likely sit home and watch.

This is one for the ages folks. We will speak of this one for years to come.

This week the boys talk about possibly the biggest regular season game in the history of the franchise. Heady times, but still football. The offense is clicking, even with a banged-up RGIII. The defense however is giving the gang pause for concern. But Dallas isn’t perfect – and they have their share of blemishes.

Most likely it comes down to desire and destiny.

New Skinscast Episode – Train Kept Rolling

The count is up to five, as in victories. But the magic number is two, as in how many wins they need to win the division. The Redskins sit at 8-6, and it is down to just two more games in the season. But these two games will be the difference between let-down and elation.

This week the boys discuss the big victory by the backup in Cleveland. How is it the offense can be just as effective with no RGIII? If there was a trophy for coordinators surely Kyle Shanahan would receive it. And what of the defense? Where are they getting the magic halftime adjustments. Jim Haslett and company are showing they have a few things up their sleeve as well.

But despite the excitement, nothing matters if the team cannot get a win in Philadelphia. All we want for Christmas is a big W.

Everyone’s favorite Homer – Brian Murphy – returns to the lineup.

New Skinscast Episode – The Franchise

And with the 2nd overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins surprised no-one in selecting Robert Griffin III, the quarterback they hope will take them to the promise land. But the good feelings didn’t end there. The Redskins made some noise in taking Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins in the 4th round. They also managed to add another six players before the weekend concluded.

This week the boys breakdown the draft, and marvel at arguably the most anticipated draft pick in Washington since Sammy Baugh. They weigh-in on the brushfire that has become the Cousins pick – and decide whether it is really much ado about nothing. Then they look at the other pieces added over the weekend, to include three offensive linemen, two defensive backs, a linebacker and running back. Not to mention some free agents brought in following the draft.

New Skinscast Episode – Straight Up Gangsta

Friday, March 16th, 2012

skinscastbang

Redskins’ Nation got an early present last Friday with the announcement of a blockbuster trade with St Louis for the 2nd overall pick in this year’s draft. This will all but guarantee Robert Griffin III will wear the burgundy and gold.

But before the smiles on our faces could even fade, the league swooped in and relieved the Redskins of a cool $36 million in cap space for actions taken legally during an uncapped year. And this just 24 hours before the start of free agency.

It was a move that could make even the most dour don mirthful.

This week the boys break down the trade with the Rams, the move by the league against Washington and Dallas, and of course, the free agents the Redskins have brought in to date.

And for those who always wondered what Pappas would sound like in reverb, your wait is over…

Enjoy!
