It was a day of firsts at Redskins Park. Albert Haynesworth passed his conditioning test today. He also spoke to the media, giving a 10-second statement. It was also the first day that defensive coordinator Jim Haslett has spoken to the media this camp.
Haynesworth passed his conditioning test with times of 66 and 70 seconds, according to head coach Mike Shanahan. Haynesworth then participated in squad drills, before having his left knee heavily wrapped and sitting out the team portion of practice.
The team said following practice it was always intended Haynesworth would skip today’s team practice.
Haynesworth gave a brief statement to the press after practice.
“The test is over and, you know, now it’s back to playing football,” said Haynesworth. “I want to thank all the fans for coming out and still supporting me and still wearing 92 jerseys and still believing in me.”
Following practice, most questions revolved around Haynesworth.
“A lot of people are going to look at him not being here in the offseason,” said Phillip Daniels. “A lot was said. But now it’s time to play football. He’s a big key to have moving forward, and it’s good to have him out there.”
