The game against San Francisco exposed a team that may be in the process of giving up on the year and the coach. What was unthinkable just a few weeks ago is now front and center; is this team about to make another change at the top?

It is not what anyone was after; but in the wake of poor effort and horrible execution; the specter of more change in Washington is front and center.

This week the boys discuss the collapse against the 49ers on national TV. They assess a horrific performance by Robert Griffin III and ask whether he is the man for the job right now.

And they wonder what the future holds for this coaching staff and roster.

New Skinscast Episode – Signs of life

skinscastbang

A funny thing happened last Sunday. The Redskins were playing a solid game against the Chicago Bears; managing a close game in the first half and appearing the better side.

Then Jay Cutler got hurt.

Just as the collective football universe was writing of the Bears’ chances to win – a shootout occurred with Chicago hanging 300 yards and 24 points on Washington in the second half. But the Redskins would not be denied; racking up 499 yards, 209 on the ground, and plenty of their own points.

The end result was a 45-41 win.

This week the boys breakdown the win. Robert Griffin III appears to be back to his old self. Jordan Reed is a monster tight end. DeAngelo Hall had a great game. Brian Orakpo with his first defensive score. But then there was another breakdown on special teams. There was the foolishness of Brandon Meriweather. And the age of London Fletcher.

A lot to talk about this week.

New Skinscast episode – Play ball

Thursday, August 15th, 2013

skinscastbang The preseason is here and they are once again playing games.

This week the boys break down the game in Tennessee. The starting offense looked efficient and effective. The starting defense however, not so much. Chris Johnson spanked the Redskins.

Add to this another defender lost for the season and there may be cause for concern. They also look at the upcoming game against the Steelers and what to expect.

Excuse the audio glitches.

New Skinscast Episode – The beasts of the east

Thursday, January 3rd, 2013

skinscastbangIn the climax to the 2012 NFL regular season, the Washington Redskins defeated bitter arch-rival the Dallas Cowboys to capture the NFC East crown and a place in the playoffs.

It was a game for the ages with a storybook ending.

This week the boys break down the awesome victory over the Cowboys. It was a throwback to days of yore. From the smashmouth running of Alfred Morris, to season best defensive performances from DeAngelo Hall and London Fletcher. An offense that managed another 28 points, and an opportunistic defense that created three takeaways. And then there was the magnificent gameplan on both sides of the ball.

It doesn’t get much sweeter than that.

But there’s another game just ahead, and this team is better than the one Washington just beat. The gang looks at a hot Seattle Seahawks team and talk about what the Redskins will need to do to stay alive in the postseason.

Enjoy!

The Redskins have returned to their winning ways and everything is right in the world.

This week the gang examines the 3-1 record at the bye and ask how real this team is. A lot is being said about the quarterback and the boys explore the performance to date and why they don’t think a switch is in order. Then there is a much improved defense to discuss and the question of how good this team might actually be.

Everybody is looking forward to a week off, but first there are predictions for the Eagles game after the bye.
